After a lot of browsing on this forum, I think I have an idea as to how I will convert/capture analog video. I plan to use a DVcam with analog to digital conversion with passthrough. My computer has firewire ports, so I will only need software capture (or store) capatilities on my computer. Is this correct? Could there potentially be audio/video synchronization problems using a DVcam to do the conversion? Thanks.

Rather than use your DV Cam as a passthru, I would first record your analog to the DV Cam tape. This will digitize and also lay down a steady TBC. Then, I would transfer the tape to your computer. This is a suggestion made to me by a Sony rep. An extra step but the up side is that now you have a digital copy that you don't have to store on your hard drive.
