OK. I have a .mpg that I created using Eye TV. It is a MPEG1 Muxed file which plays fine using QT 6.2 and would burn OK except at 822.2 MB it's too large to burn to a 700 MB/80 Min. CD-R. I downloaded ffmpegX in the hopes that I could reduce the file's size enough to fit onto an 80 Min. VCD. I've been fighting with the app over the last 24 hours trying to figure out how to make this happen. I would be really grateful if someone could explain in "newbie detail" how to do this. I'm clearly not getting it and 24 plus hours is passing my patience limit for trying to figure out what I assume would be a basic process for the application (not having the benefit of a manual).
Basically I have 84 minutes of .mpg that I want to fit on an 80 minute VCD with the best obtainable quality given the circumstances. I tried version 0.4 and 0.6 and thus far over 10 or more attempts my results have ranged from a 2.5 GB file to one of 263 MB with a really bad picture and which Toast refused to burn. It's probably my own fault but I'm really frustrated and am ready to FTP the file to my XP laptop and try some Windows app instead. I thought this would be much easier.
