  1. I'm basically new to DVD creating but felt it was time to get all those Godzilla and Larry Boy tapes on disc. I'm using an ADVC 100 (which by the way is everything you fiine folks here said it is) to bring in my movie to an .avi file. I've already created a couple DVD's which play good and seem to be pretty good quality but on one of these movies which is around 2 hours in length I had to cut the avg. bitrate down to 3000 in order to get the whole movie on disc. I've read that if I use another source to encode the audio instead of letting TMPEnc do both the audio and video I can use a higher bitrate for the video by means of using ac3 audio versus PCM. I've tried to use Goldwave but when I load the .avi file it just sits there and times out. Thank you for any help offered.

  2. If the previous post wasn't long enough I forgot to mention what is happening to me with Goldwave. I launch Goldwave and open my .avi file. It gives me a "Deflashing To Disk" info box. After approx 5 minutes it shows the left and right channels but no audio in them. Then naturally when I try to save as it gives me "File gives a length of 0 for audio data or audio data is missing! Sound cannot be read" info box.
    Thank You for any help.
