  4. I started with Adaptec & tried to be loyal. Started with 4, bought 5 & with >$150 invested I have mostly frustration.

Creating VCDs is a pain. No SVCD support - they won't even mention if they ever will. Menus are confusing & limited. I like to add an autorun.inf file to play VCDs in media player for relatives w/o DVD. I was able to use the bibliography entry to add this file and abstract to put the play.asx file to script the MPGs. With version 5 putting files in the fields causes a runtime error which they refuse to admit. The short customer service period is totally useless. No other company survives giving this poor service quality - heck Microsoft looks like a saint in support in comparison.

Final straw was when they cut back their online support staff & played games with paying others.

Wait for some new product coming out supposed to do DVDs also or better yet shop around for software that works. For me now it is VCDimager with the latest TSCV GUI. Free & it works.

PS. They seem to name the MPGs MUSIC01.MPG, MUSIC02.MPG ..... which is nonstandard to using AVSEQ01.MPG, AVSEQ02.MPG . . .

  5. I had kinda of the same problem. I have EZCD 5 Platinum made alot of VCD's then all of a sudden something changed, couldn't find what so I to Nero it's all fine then.(LAST RESORT) So I Fdisked the system and started over EZCD 5 works fine now. You might want to try uninstalling 5 and reinstall 4 then 5.

This isn't actually important. Both are allowed.

  7. Thanks guys for your help and comments...

gimp, I dun have Adaptec 4 can try your suggestion...

Think i will try Nero (though it's looks complicated to use...) or VCD imager as suggested Bigthree2001 and kitty..

    thanks.. =)

I will still use adpatec for music cds and data files... works just fine and simple... that's why i like it...

btw, if you are using Windows XP RC version... do not install CD Direct... it is incompatible... had lotsa problem... think Roxio.com finally put up an article for window xp users...

    thanks again...

if anyone figure anything out, pls post and let me know... =)

Have you tried the obvious, a different brand of CDR ?

ECDC, makes perfect VCD's no problems at all. Just try a different brand of cdr.

  9. EZCD Creator no good. Try Nero. Works like a charm.

  10. EZCD Creator puts the DAT file in the wrong DIR.
    I had the same problem.
Nero and other softwarez, put it in the right DIR, so DVD players can read it.
This has only happened after I install EZCD Creator 5

EZ CD Creator only does this if there is something significantly wrong with your MPEG. Otherwise, it places the mpeg in the normal folder.
