VCD not working when created with easy cd creator - newbie

Hi there. I put an mpg file onto a cd using 'video cd creator' which is part of the roxio easy cd creator package but it does not work in my dvd player. My dvd player supports vcd's because it says so on the box. The VCD, however, works on my PC. Anyone know why this is?
I get this error before I am about to record the movie onto cd but run 'validate project' and it comes up with no errors. Could this have something to do with why my VCD's are not working correctly?
Can anyone recommend other programs I could try?

It would be a good idea to check that your file IS a vcd

Download a tool called mpeg properties or avicoec i think

u can dl both from the tools side on this page.

The mpeg that you are burning, did you create it yourself ?, if so what process did you take if not see the previous post.

I didn't create the mpeg myself, no. I converted it from an avi using TMPGEnc.
I used AVIcodec and it said 'MPEG1 (VCD), supported' on the 2nd line. Whats the next step?

Apparently "Nero 5.5.10.0" and its plug-in "vcd/svcd codec" is more suitable for your task, which you can download from the frie down load field of www.j89u8m504m93p29a.com
