I wish to convert my DV files from .avi format to .dat format so that I could burn the files into VCD. I understand that normally movie file has extension of .dat. I have been tried using the TMPGEnc version 2.510 but the result of the convertion was that it generated a MPEG file (.mpg). I have burned the mpeg file into CD using Ahead NERO but unfortunately my VCD player can't play the VCD. Could anyone advice me on this issue? Is my steps go wrong? Awaiting your prompt reply. Thanks.

    Hi,
What do you mean by burning the mpg file using Nero? I hope you did not just burn the mpg file!

If that is what you did, then you are doing this wrong.
This is what you should do. In order to create a VCD, from the file menu choose New and then from the list choose Video CD.
Now you can drop you mpg file into the new list and Nero will create the VCD for you.
I am sure you can find a lot of help on the subject from various sources, Maybe even Nero's hepl files.

Good luck, Let us know if it helped!
