I have recently begun to convert DivX/Xvid to SVCD for my little one. All the classic Disney stuff. Anyway I use TMPGEnc Plus 2.510.49.157 and I use NTSC Film template and most of the times use the 2 Pass VBR method min bit rate 1850 - 2000 depending on the movie and Max bit rate default of 2520. I demultiplex them with TMPGenc and then use BBMpeg to put it back all together. I burn the files using Nero 5.5.10.15 and I burn at 48X TAO. I have also used VCDEasy to burn and that did not help either. The SVCD's work flawlessy on my PC of course. However when played on my Apex 1100W 1MB Hacked Firmware toward the last 15 minutes the player starts pixellate stick and drag then finally lock up? This happens with all my conversions. I tried to edit the raw mpeg files in TMPGenc and these play fine however where the split in the file is made the first half of it plays and additional 10-15 seconds of Video with no Audio after the point it was cut at. Ex: I cut the file at 44:14 but it plays additonal video with no sound past the point of cut? I am trying to figure out if it's the conversions or the burning process or if I need another editor since the raw Mpeg works great after I cut it except for the video glitch. I have had my Apex for a very long time so I don't think that's it because Scene released SVCD's in Cue/Bin format work fine. Except for one I recently used Treasure Planet but besides that one it's been fine? This player has worked like a charm since I bought and I hope it's not dying on me cuz I love this player! Anyway was wondering if anyone has specifically had this type of problem or a general idea on possible fixes. If there are additional details you need to know please let me know in the post and I will provide them. Thanks to anyone who can help...

I have a couple of suggestions.
Don't cut your mpegs. Use the Source Range Function in TMPGEnc to select which portion of the video to encode, and use batch encode to make several mpegs of the whole movie. Take the finished mpegs and burn with Nero, VCDEasy or whatever.
Try burning at a lower speed. Many people have pixellation, freezing and audio sync problems that are cured by lowering the burn speed to 12 X or lower.
Spread out your bitrate settings. Your low setting is far too high, it should be as low as you can go, try 400 to start. Your high setting is fine, my player won't go above 2500.

Thanks Zippy I will try this and see if it works...I'll report back my results

Unfortunately the source range option did not work TMPGenc continues to crash after it completes analyzing the the vid/aud. I am currently trying a lower bitrange setting of 1,000 with Max 2500. Hopefully this will work and produce a smaller mpeg that may not requiring cutting. I just hope the quality doesn't suffer too much. I will post my results...

There's a bitrate calculator in the Tools section to help figure filesize. If you use that, you won't have to guess.

Just use bbmpeg to cut, TMPGenc does a horrible job at cutting mpeg2. Follow the bbmpeg cutting guide in the EDIT section.
If possible, slow your burn speed down too.
