    RMVB would likely be one of the worst formats ever created to edit in. It was made as an 'end' format, not for editing. It's also a highly proprietary format with very few programs offered to work with it. And the variable bitrate makes it twice as hard. I would go with the recommendation to convert it to another format or don't bother trying to edit it.

    You should be able to work with some RMVBs the VirtualDub (Mod) by using Avisynth to open the file in VD. Then convert to it to a AVI type format, edit, then encode to a more usable format. https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=289872
