hello, i have just set up my tv card to capture video directly to vcd format. However, after following the guide in vcdhelp.com, i have run into a problem, the software is older than that which i have. There is a setting on the following page https://www.videohelp.com/ATI_AIW_Guide.htm
for motion estimation quality. In my version there is a possible 100, whereas there is not on this program, my question is whether i should choose 99 as indicated on this page or choose 100. I should also not that the standard setting in the newer version that i use also sets the 1.15 setting as 1.13, as well as the motion estimation qualtiy at 100, anyways i hope someone can help me out with this, thanks a lot in advance.

Do 99 as 100 may drop more frames. Try 80 if you still drop. Set estimates to highest numbers you can, and only lower if drops frames.
Read the VHS->DVD guide below too, as you may pick up a few tips there for using the ATI card.
And I'd suggest ATI MMC 7.7 over all other versions (including new 8.1). And be sure to use the newest April 2003 ATI drivers.I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -

rayban,
Yes, MMC 7.7 will work on non-Radeon cards.
ATI readme file for MMC 7.7, says for Radeon cards only and it works on my non-Radeon anyway.
Has anyone gotten MMC 7.9 work on non-Radeon?
I tried MMC 8.1 and have not gotten it to install for my non-Radeon card. -
thanks for the info, Ron....I will definitely download that version. Was there anything else you did to make it work or just install it?
Thanks again!Thanks and regards,

There is a XP drive update at: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
For non-Radeon ATI AIW cards.
My TV tuner started playing after I made this update and rebooted.
Yes, MMC 7.7 works with non-Radeon ATI AIW cards.
FYI!! MMC 8.X only works Radeon ATI AIW cards. -
