I have ati catalyst media center 1.0.4310.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE DEFAULT RECORDING FOLDER?

It is set up to my user-public video recording folder in vista premium. However my c drive only has 2gbs free (80gb drive).

It won't let me change the foldder! I can't even change the video playback folder. Every other setting I can change except the default folders.

WHAT GIVES??? Is this a buggy version????? I have the 512mb VISION TEK ALL-IN-WONDER HD pci-e card that I just bought this past week. I still haven't fully tested it out since I can't change my recording folder.

    Please help. Thanks.

There should be a setting in the Video Section of the Media Center... You might also can change it in the registry....

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media Center\Service\

I have on XP Powercinema4, which I think is similar to the ATI MMC. I will look at home later and see the area I can change the folder from.....

In the older ATI MMC, it was under the Initialization Wizard.

@bodyslide - thanks. yes it looks very similar. However when i click on the recording destination or whatever ATI calls it all it does is turn a highlighted color. there is no possiblity to change the directory.

Also - How would I know how to change the registry for media center directory when I use the actual WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER also?

@lordsmurf - initialization wizard? Is that the same as the setup procedure? Or is it in a different menu?

    Thanks everyone...

@bodyslide - thanks. It looks interesting.

I think i might take a few alternatives for a spin this weekend.

Are there any that are confirmed to support widescreen capturing over analog inputs? That is a goal of mine. (mind you "true" 16x9 capturing over inputs not letterboxed)

  8. I know for certain that the older MMC 9.x would do this. Not certain if it will work with your card.

Went thru quite a bit of gymanstics as what I wanted to determine was NOT whether the video was Flagged as 16:9, but if it actually WAS 16:9.

True anamorphic capture, tested against original broadcast and played onto both widescreen and 4:3 TV sets, yes, it worked.

I'm reasonably sure the MMC 9.x can work with the 500 and 600 series cards, I know there is an option for "hardware-encoding" which is only present on those cards.

Now, installing it with the right drivers is an adventure which may very well consume some significant time. BUT, if it works for you, it may be one of very few ways to get it working. Possibly the ONLY one.
