  1. I have created a homemovie with ATI all in wonder card in dvd format. No problems with audio. I then frame served the mpg file from virtdub to TMPGEnc to get the file to on dvd size. No problems with audio. I then used ulead moviefactory to create chapters and put some extra pictures on the dvd and burn it. Plays fine on PC but no audio on my home DVD player. Any ideas?

Ise the audio either AC3 or PCM and 48hz? If not, that may be the issue. Not enough details to think of anything else.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

MPEG Audio encoding is not supported by all DVD Players.
Works on mine and 3 of my mates, but not on my sisters.
Real shame as PCM takes heaps of space and not all software supports AC3, but that's life I suppose.

Try encoding something as PCM just to prove that is in fact the problem. Most authoring programs with have an option to convert to this format (eg. DVDWS, MyDVD, etc)

  5. This is the strange thing in MovieFactory the settings are set like this

    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
    (DVD-NTSC)
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
    LPCM Audio, 48 KHz, Stereo

So why would AVIcodec say that it is mpeg? I thought that MF only supported PCM?

Can't answer that one. The file size alone should be a good indicator.
(You could always de-multiplex and check out the size of the audio stream.)

I only ever had the trial of MF 2, which does allow mpeg audio.

Most of the Ulead packages allow you to get the Properties of the files you are loading or have loaded ... ?
The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be.
