  1. I have a bunch of DVD VOB's, 52GB of worth. Every time I try and encode a movie to DivX, either the movie crashes the player, or the player can't even open the movie at all, giving an error. What settings does everyone use in FlaskMPEG to encode to DivX? Also, what specific DivX codec does everyone use, the works.

  2. I use VOB --> DVD2AVI --> VFapi --> NanDub (SmartBitrateControl/DiVX 3.11)

    With NanDub you get a better quality, because it uses two passes (SBC).

  3. I'm trying that now, I'll let you know what happens.

  4. You might also want to look at DVD2SVCD, this is a great program. It's a frondend loader that uses:

    vStrip -> DVD2AVI -> azid -> tooLame -> CCE -> (pulldown) -> bbMPEG

    Since you've already ripped everything just choose the correct ifo file. You can d/load the newest software bundle at http://dvd2svcd.doom9.net

    However, the guide to the program is at http://www.doom9.org (look under the guides), you can also d/load CCE 2.5SP (demo) at the guide site. The demo ver will place a watermark/logo in the bottom right of your encoded MPEG, but I've heard that there's a crack to remove this

    As for settings, depending on your bitrate and # of CDRs you can do CBR or up to 5pass VBR.

  5. Well, the end result is an AVI, not SVCD but thanks anyway. The DVD2AVI job is about 20% done, so I'll take a look at that when it's done.

  6. What do you mean is 20% done?
    Did you choose Save --> Project file?
    It takes only a few minutes to build the file, which is usually <1MB.

  7. I went to Save AVI and it started, however I had to reboot and lost the progress. But the DVD2AVI created 2 big files, I think they are independant audio and video pieces, which I don't want. I just want good quality DivX's with audio.

  8. Load the vob's in DVD2AVI, choose save project from the file menu (will take max. few minutes). Open VFapi, choose add file and point to the dvd2avi project file and hit convert(<1min).
    Use Winamp to convert the audio file to wav.
    Now open Nandub and open the .avi VFapi created. Make the right encoding settings and convert to DiVX.

  9. Oh, I see, missed some steps from your earlier procedure, let me try that out, thanks.

  10. I tried that, but when I went to "Save Project [F4]", it brings up the statistics window and tells me I have 1h30m remaining. It then creates a 0 byte .d2v and a large .wav file. Am I missing something? I have the m2v.vfp (MPEG-2 Video VFAPI plugin) and m2vconf.exe (VFAPI config program) in the same directory.

  11. Go to http://www.digital-digest.com/nickyguides/

    There you will find the finest guides available on the net.
    Be sure to check out the FlaskMpeg guide.
    Enjoy!

  12. It should create a .mp2 audio file and a .d2v video file >0 bytes.

    You must have in your DVD2AVI dir:

    DVD2AVI.exe
    DVD2AVI.ini
    DVD2AVI.vfp

    Download the latest version here:
    http://hiroko.ee.ntu.edu.tw

    Just download the zip and extract in a new dir.

    Download VFapi from doom9:

    http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/mpg/VFAPIConv-1.04-EN.zip
