I'm creating an mpeg-2/DVD slideshow that uses transitions, audio, and titles. When I use ArcSoft ShowBiz to put it together, I get "slideshow flicker" when it's played back on a regular DVD player and TV. When I play it back on a progressive scan DVD player hooked up to an HDTV monitor, it's perfectly clear with no flicker.

According to Ulead's tech support website, when you use their "anti-flicker" option in PictureShow 2.0, you won't get flicker on a regular TV, but the pictures are blurry on a computer monitor (and I'm therefore assuming on an HDTV monitor with a progressive scan DVD player as well).

    Two questions:
    1. Is getting a clear, no-flicker mpeg DVD slideshow on BOTH regular TV and monitors possible or are they mutually exclusive?

    2. If they are mutually exclusive and you were distributing DVDs to Girl Scout troop parents to enjoy for years to come, which option would you choose--one that looks better now, or one that will likely look better with their future equipment?
Make new friends, but keep the old:
One is silver and the other gold.

Isn't interlaced video just great ... Here's a tip: If you got Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere, there's a filter called "Reduce interlace flicker" which you can try and apply to your stills. This works pretty well without blurring the images too much.
