    Hey everyone...

I was just curious if anyone knows of a transition for FCP that makes the footage flicker out (similar to the flicker text filter in Motion)? I've done lots of googling and found nothing so far...

    anyone know if one exists?

could you just not use the "glitch"filter
    in the FxFactory Motion Pack
and set the amount of glitch to be smaller and less
hard of a shape, rather than squares to say dots?

or are you thinking more along the lines of a color or
    intense bright "pop" flicker?
    like this
    but slower and more intense?

well I dont know if you've ever seen the flicker on filter for text in motion but something along those lines - only in reverse obviously - flickering out. kind of like a light that flickers out...

i will upload a clip from my film in which I have it with the text - i want to find some way to make an image do the same thing.

wow...it took me a bit to realize what you were trying to show.
it was very subtle, and since I don't use Motion
( my Dualie isn't up to spec to use it )
It was the way the text flickered out, you want to do that
    on your video.

the first thing that comes to mind is Masking the video at points along the timeline....
you could do 50%, 70% and then 100% masks at certain intervals,
say at every 50 seconds of the last 5 minutes to a complete black
    fade out... 100%vid/50%msk/100%vid/70%msk/100%vid/100%msk
would achieve a similar result....use say 2 to 4second crossfades on
the mask so that it hits each point it will be a smooth and not jarring flicker.
For a sharp jarring flicker, say for a psycho feel, leave the crossfades
off and let each mask cut be hard...with the right music , you could
    achieve a pretty cool piece...

okay that sounds like a good idea - it will just have to be addapted slightly as i dont want the whole film to flicker, merely at the end of this one shot - as if the shot is going out because the light goes out. something like that.

    thanks.

Nice effect. I'm submitting a comment because I'd like to be kept in the loop in case something can be created to do this.
