  1. I have grabbed the audio file from a video using VirtualDub.

I want to add it to a slide show created with "DVD slideshow GUI".
When I try to add the audio file to "DVD slideshow GUI" I get the message : "Can not load the file XXX No compatible ACM codec to decode 0x0161 audio stream to PCM". "Import unsuccessful."

    1) Can I change the format of the wav file?
    2) Or where can I get a compatible codec?

Details of the audio file I am trying to add from mediainfo:
    General
    Complete name :XXX
    Format : Wave
    File size : 27.1 MiB
    Duration : 29mn 33s
Overall bit rate : 128 Kbps

    Audio
    ID : 0
    Format : WMA
    Format version : Version 2
    Codec ID : 161
Codec ID/Info : Windows Media Audio
    Duration : 29mn 33s
    Bit rate : 128 Kbps
    Channel(s) : 2 channels
    Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz
    Bit depth : 16 bits
    Stream size : 27.1 MiB (100%)

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Thanks Baldrick. I installed divx wma audio codec but no luck.

It unzipped to a file DivXa32.acm. Is there a specific directory I have to put this file in? (I tried putting DivXa32.acm into "C:\Program Files (x86)\GUI for dvdauthor". Still no joy!)

    Any suggestions welcome.

  4. Try converting the audio file to MP3 using FormatFactory or similar.
This should import directly into DVD slideshow GUI without a hitch.

Did you extract ALL files and ran the register.exe?

  6. When I attempted to run register.exe I received a copy error:
"An error occurred while copying file DivXa32.acm. Cannot copy file to destination directory."

That's why I was going to manually copy the file but I don't know which directory to put it in.

    NOTE: DivXa32.acm extracts OK.

It works fine to install in windows 7...and should work in winxp.

But just try convert the audio to wav instead as transporterfan suggest. Format Factory, Freemake Audio Converter, etc.

  8. Thanks.
In the end I installed it on another computer running XP 32bit and everything seems to work fine. It reads in the original wav file without any trouble. So I'm wondering if it's a windows 64 bit problem. It would be interesting to know.
