1. Has anyone any ideas on how to strip the video_ts folder so I've got two files one video the other sound, so I can then export them into maestro and add other dvds and menus ???????

2. If you have the original DVD, then use DVDDecryptor and demux the audio and video streams. If you have the VIDEO_TS directory on your hard drive, then use SmartRipper.

This will produce an .m2v and .ac3 file which can be imported into DVDMaestro.

Good Luck

3. thanks for the reply dcpro, if I just rip the movie files with smart ripper this will create the two files i need ?
I don't understand what you mean regarding demuxing using dvd decrypter though, as this is what i use for dvds ??
thanks again I'll give smartripper a go, I didn't realise it did this.

4. Smartripper and DVD Decypter are both DVD ripping programs (there are several others). The VOB files in the DVD contain all the streams (video, audio, subtitles, etc) all muxed (aka mixed) together. When you rip the DVD you can either rip the whole VOB file, or demux (aka seperate) out the streams of your choice. Here's how to do it with smartripper (I saw smartripper because it can open a VIDEO_TS folder from your HD while DVD Decrypter seems to only open from discs):

1) Run smartripper
2) Direct it to the VIDEO_TS folder (disc or previous HD rip)
3) Click on stream processes
4) Click on enable stream processes
5) Click on the stream of interest and choose demux. Do this for ALL streams of interest (ie. click on video choose demux, click on video choose demux, etc) clicking demux once will not demux all streams.

Then just hit go, this will generate a m2v (video) and ac3 (audio) files (and if desired subs too) that you can be loaded into your authoring program. For more info check out the guides here and at doom9.org on muxing/demuxing and the DVD file structure.

5. Thank you very much.. I have been looking for this answer for over a week. I tried as I understood your instructions but did not get what I had hoped to get. Since these trials take a long time, I would be grateful if you can just use the image below to give me instructions using the menus exactly as they are. As you can see, I have an audio, video, subtitle and something else. Let's say all I want to do is JUST take the subtitles out so that I can add them later if I decide to. That is, I would like to have a file containing the subtitles, leaving behind the VOBs that I can use to extract the mvie without subtitles.

THANK YOU..I hope that you someone can answer me today very soon so that I can catch up with my work this weekend.

9. boumira, I ripped the two dvds using smartripper to two seperat folders as stated above and enabled stream processing, then on both the video and audio file which it shows I demuxed to an extra file. once I'd done both dvds I imported them into maestro using the same method as is used in the guide for svcd2dvdmpg which is on this site, this guide shows you how to also make menus. Once they had been through maestro . I compressed them down to fit on one dvd using dvd2one.

Hope this helps.
