  1. hi.

im trying to convert divX (XViD) to SVCD. when i try extract the audio to wav using virtual dub i get the error, 'No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio.'

I'm sure i've got all the correct codecs installed (divx 3+4+5 and the xvid one, along with the regular mp3 ones).

anyone think where its going wrong?

    thanks.

Try using the Virtual Dub MPEG-2 mod. It can convert video that has AC3 audio, which sounds like you have.

  4. Check out the film in gspot to see exactly what codec is needed.

  5. hi

it says everything is fine, all codecs installed for both video and audio are installed and there should be no problems with decompression

i sorta hoped it would find something wrong heh.

  6. What info does gspot give you for the required audio codec?

  7. which conflicts with what virtual dub says. VD says there is nothing that will decompress the audio.

  8. Try using avi2wav in the tools section of this webpage. You simply load the avi file into it and start it up. It will extract the audio into a wav file. You can then save the video portion of your file without the audio part . Load the avi into virtual dub. Click on audio and choose no audio. Then click on video and choose direct stream copy. Next, click file and choose save as avi. Vdub will then save the video portion of your film exactly as it is without the audio. Use this and the wav file you created with avi2wav.
Let us know if it works.
