  1. After using search and posting a question at -- Doom 9 I think-- no answer--
I I'm getting an error from AutoGK from the Virtual Dub analysis at start of
    the AutoGK program.

    It says:

    Avi Synth Open Failure.
Direct Show Source could not open audio or video.

My Directx and so on should be up to date. My motherboard is about
a month old and the Direct Show was on the install disk.

I have run AGK previously but this one is hung up.

    what video and audio codecs?
and why not rerip and convert directly from the dvd source instead?

  6. You have lost me.

Is there an add in to install?

I thought AGK installed everything at setup.

I have not used these filters before.

  7. Today I gave the error

audio returned direct show show source render file the filter graph won't talk to me

and got to some Direct Show Codec filters for AVI Synth.

I must not have opened or run the .exe correctly. The problem is still
    there.

When using AGK what sort of setup of the Virtural Dub/Avi Synth is necessary?

No setup is necessary. Just install and use. So we are back to your source files, which is most likely where the issue lies.

What exactly are you trying to do and what steps are you taking? I don't really see a need to use DVDFab to RIP a DVD and convert it to avi, then load the avi into AutoGK. You should be ripping and loading the dvd files into AutoGK.

  9. It's always possible I am not using the program correctly.

My assumption was that I could not rip and compress (asy to the 1/2 cd
option) without stripping off everything but the avi made by
    a prog like dvdfab.

How can I use AGK more effectively and get the compact size desired in the one operation?

Just RIP the DVD to your HDD, then open AutoGK and point it to the correct folder/ifo file. It will then perform the conversion and create the desired avi files based on your setup selections.

There are several guides in the HOW TO: Convert section...just choose DVD to AVI or search for AutoGK guides.

  11. The guide that I found was clear in showing how DVD Decrypter and AGK work together.

It does not say that the DVD Decrypter step is required.

You have to understand that I haven't done this in a while.

Does the whole process work together and not on an avi. made from
    another software?
