ok here goes, got a divx file which using the guides on this site i extracted the audio using veedub to make a wav file. then using tmpge or whatever it is made a mpeg file. used both nero and vcdeasy to burn this file to cd-r so as to play it on my aiwa xd-dv170 standalone player.

the burnt disks even when burnt at 1x speed still have playback problems on the pc like pixellation and large colour blocks appearing and won't even play at all on the aiwa.

checked the compatability list and it says the aiwa should be able to play cd-r's.

anyone have any experience of this particular aiwa model and using vcd's on it?
and also any advice on burning the discs to get better results, is it just a case of using a particular brand of disc? the ones i'm using are maxell 80min 700 mb

the mpeg files play fine straight off the hard drive.

my cdrw drive is a phillips 48x

    any help/advice welcome

is not enough information. The saying goes Garbage In, Garbage Out. How big, how long, what resolution, what audio bitrate? I don't think any of your issues are your burning speed or standalone player.
