  1. Hi
I use TMPGEnc 1.6 for burning my DVDs on my PC.
I find it easy and reliable to use, never had any problems, but i want to upgrade to a program that has better menu options.

Basically what is the best program out there for editing video on the PC and then burning onto DVD with menus that have motion and sound on them.

I am in England if that makes any difference, i am thinking of getting something from PC world, but will download if i need to.

    Thanks for any help

Use IMGBurn. It's a free download and does an exceptional job.

IMO, DVD-Lab Pro is the best authoring app. You really shouldn't look at all-in-one editor/encoder/authoring/burning apps - all those tasks are best handled with separate dedicated app. But if you want some allinoneish, you can take a look at the Ulead lineup. ImgBurn, as dadrab suggests is certainly the best, but only for actually burning to disk, nothing else.

As I read your post you're talking at least three different things (or functions), 1. editing, 2. authoring & 3. burning.

#3. As dadrab posted, I'd also recommend Imgburn for burning. It's free and one (if not the best) program out there for burning an already authored DVD.

#2. Authoring is where you assemble your assets and put them into DVD structure. To do it well (in my opinion) these assets (e.g., video, audio, menu backgrounds) should be created using other program designed specifically for that function (e.g., video encoder, ac3 or mpg2 audio encoder, photo editior). I use TDA (also) but one authoring package that I've been wanting to try out is DVD-Lab Pro.

#3. Editing. You have video and audio editors. For video I use VirtualDub & Avisynth. For audio I use Goldwave. However, those are only the tools that I use. For more options of editors, authoring packages and burning tools check out the tool section to the left.
