  1. Hi,
just wrote my first DVD from a downloaded series episode, the disc wrote perfect and play perfect on my Stand Alone player BUT is not playing on the DVD Burner? The burner is a CenDyne (Pioneer 105, latest firmware was already installed).
    Anyone know anything about this??

  2. is this a princo dvd-rw? they do that on my setup too (dvr-105).
i've heard of a couple of similar cases. there's an odd chance that the burned media will read on the burner, but that's just an odd chance. almost all the time i get a verification failure on nero, but the disc plays well on the standalone and on a regular dvd-rom drive.

  3. Not sure what type the media was, came with the writer, after second write Nero told me it was not a rewritable and would not erase it. I got a couple of Memorex ReWritables today and they work fine.
Funny thing I have found is that here on the site it says my Stand Alone DVD player JVC XV-S300BK cannot play DVD -RW disks but I have used them and they have palyed perfect for me.
So far I have used DVD -r Maxell and DVD -RW Memorex and have had only one coaster due to user error.
All in all writer seems to work exceedingly well.

Hmm... Well it is interesting. This post is almost 2 months old but I just tripped over the same set of events and finally figured it out.

The drive is a Cendyne 4x (a Pioneer DVDR105 re-badged) and the media that came with it is a single white faced re-writable. After writing out a converted DVD to the disk it is no longer recognised in the DVDR drive. And if you try to erase it with Nero Express it complains that it is not a re-writable disk any longer.

The computer is running WinXP Pro SP1 and completely updated from MS website.

To solve this issue I had to reboot the PC after the burn session and then use Nero Express to do a "Quick Erase" on the disk. After the Quick erase session (which lasts about 2 min.) the disk can be Fully Erased with the Nero utility.

During the confusion I found the disk would play in any other DVDrom drive and worked well in my satnd alone players.

Sadly, WindosXP seems to have a problem with the either the drive or the media. My drive still has the original 1.21 firmware. I run into this problem if I burn from Pinnacle IC7 or from Nero Express. Probably true with other systems as well.

Still interesting to note the need to reboot.
