    Hi all

Have been using forty-two for dvd to SVCD for the longest time.
    Works great!

So I thought id give my hand at its DVD to DIVX feature, for making lots of my DVD's fit onto one dvd, in divx format, for a long trip im taking soon.

I go and do everything, it says processing and about 1 min later it says DONE.

Now i know my mac is fast, but this fast??
So i checked the folder for the movie, EMPTY!

    whats going on??

    OK
    Im back

Still nothing, same thing happens. And to be honest, when I do DVD or SVCD now it says unable to process because there was no detectable .ac3 file format!!!

what the heck is happening! This is a commercial dvd that I own and i can rip it with OSeX and get a .ac3 so obviously its there!

    Anyone know what to do.

Im clueless on DVD to SVCD with out 42.

Is there another way thats not too difficult with good sync results??

  6. Use 0sex to find the title for the movie ( longest running time under title) then tell 42 to use that title.

    Hope this helps.

When you say rip title, would that be to progressive or elementary stream?

I have ripped it successfully to .m2v and .ac3 but these would need to be encoded at lower bitrate for m2v and .ac3 would need to be .mp2 and then muxed

not sure how exactly to do that

ill try, but doestn 42 need to have a mounted image or disk inorder for it to work? usually it says DRAG DVD HERE how would i drag the dvd if its just the ripped main title??

  8. Don't rip anything... use 0Sex to find out the movie title i.e. the one with longest running time.

Start 42 then drag the original dvd on to it.

Click on "more" button on the 42 window and type in the desired title number in the title box.

Click on start and keep your finger crossed

If you want to do divx, I recommend using FFmpegX. No offense to kai or bile for the wonderfull program they made, but FF doesnt give that green line, or choppyness.

    use these settings

    Codec: MPEG4 (mencoder)
    Bitrate:1000
    Size: 704x400
    Framerate: 23.976
DVD Title: whatever your dvd is
Crop: I will explain it later
    Audio: AC3
    Audio Bitrate: 192
    Audio Sampling: 48khz
    Subtitles: if you need them
    High Quality checked
    4 motion vectors checked
    two pass encode checked
encode 5 sec clip checked for first run and cropping amounts
    Qmin 1 Qmax 6

    Your good to go

After it encodes a 5 sec clip , do the croppings, then uncheck it.

hope this helps. I can fit about 20-25 TV shows on 1 DVD in divx format. Its alot better than lugging your whole dvd collection along with you.
