  2. I believe the A05 is the retail drive and the 105 is the bare OEM drive.

  4. I'm not sure but I think the retail drive will have any software bundle included while the OEM will sell for less and is without any software. The drives should be exactly the same. I don't know if there are any difference in warranty of the drives.

  6. Like someone else said the only difference is that with the A05 youll get software, but its usually nothing great and even if you do want it the price difference more than pays for it.

I dont know about 105 firmware coz i have a 104, but with that i use a modified firmware called 2forall that allows 2x writing (even if its a 1x disc) and also make the drive region free.

You may want to ask around at a few forums before you decide which firmware you want to upgrade to.

a few words of advice: STAY AWAY FROM THE OEM PIONEER DRIVES!!!
Pioneer does not support these drives at all, and it's especially a pain if you're trying to upgrade the firmware. Pay the extra $20 or so and save yourself the headaches.
Laserdiscs are cool, but laserdiscs on DVD-Rs are cooler.

  10. THANX FOR YA REPLIES GUYS.......

Surely pioneer has got something to do with the 105's as my hardware settings state i have a "PIONEER105 DVDR" drive. All the spec's seem to be the same as the A05's..............

  11. I have the 105 myself and it works very good on the Ritek 4x DVD-R media. I have also used CompUSA 1x and TDK 2x media and all work well with the drive.

Wasup with the cap lock, you know it's the key on the left third from the bottom and you can push it once more to unlock, please.
