    Why is it some .avi movies when trying to convert to mpeg doesn't work with TMPGenc...and then other .avi movies do convert? is there something i should be checking? do i need to download another version of the .avi movie? Please help.

    Its because differing avis use different codecs (i.e compression formats) to encode them. Start here:

    or some of your avi's have bad franes. Search the forum or look at the many guides on how to fix this.
