I've captured a video tape that a friend had that he wants in DVD format. (source VHS tape, output to AVI Type-2) Problem is that there are some areas due to lighting that are VERY either a) washed out or b) high contract into red shift.
Any recommendations on getting this to MPEG-2 format without to much quality loss for DVD authoring would be appreciated.
I have been editing -> exporting to AVI and then using the highest quality TMPGEnc settings possible to still fit on a single DVD based on the info here : http://dvd-hq.info/Compression.html
This has worked fo animation and other captures from VHS, just concerned about spots that are going to be to bright or red
Any suggestions would be useful!
Thanks

Well I've taken the plunge and started using avisynth to frameserver to TMPGenc. I've run about three different encodes so far and none of them satisfy me all the way through the movie. One's to high of contrast, the other I get ghosting, and yet another leaves behind to many artifacts. Since I'm pretty much the newbie to avisynth ( 2.08 ) can someone offer any suggestions on some avs scripts that work well for decent quality VHS capture -> DVD without leaving to many artifacts, color shifts, or other anomolies behind?
Thanks
