Background: It's been quite a while since I posted here but I've been doing this for almost 10 years now. My primary need is for capturing recorded video from my DVR and/or capturing old VHS video to the PC for conversion to DVD and or mpegs. I've traditionally used my Leadtek Winfast TV2000 Deluxe PCI card with Virtual VCR (+huffy) to capture. I recently rebuilt my PC, though, and installed Win7 and now I can't seem to get the card to work and Leadtek doesn't have drivers available for Win7 (sound input is "off", etc).
ANyway, looking at a new card/device. I'd really like to get the Canopus ADVC-110 but not sure if that's the right option for what I want to do. I could use TMPGEnc to convert to mpg for writing to DVD but looking for alternatives.
1) Anyone have luck with a certain capture card and Windows 7?
2) Just go with the Canopus and be done with it?
Thanks for the feedback.

The ATI 600 cards work perfectly in Windows 7.
I wrote about it in detail here: ATI 600 card doesn't work in Windows 7, how to use?
Also read this: Best capture card alternatives, to transfer tapes to digital?
No. That confines you to DV AVI.2) Just go with the Canopus and be done with it?
The ATI card will let you capture MPEG-2 (NTSC) and lossless AVI in VirtualDub (PAL and NTSC).Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
