Background: It's been quite a while since I posted here but I've been doing this for almost 10 years now. My primary need is for capturing recorded video from my DVR and/or capturing old VHS video to the PC for conversion to DVD and or mpegs. I've traditionally used my Leadtek Winfast TV2000 Deluxe PCI card with Virtual VCR (+huffy) to capture. I recently rebuilt my PC, though, and installed Win7 and now I can't seem to get the card to work and Leadtek doesn't have drivers available for Win7 (sound input is "off", etc).

ANyway, looking at a new card/device. I'd really like to get the Canopus ADVC-110 but not sure if that's the right option for what I want to do. I could use TMPGEnc to convert to mpg for writing to DVD but looking for alternatives.

    1) Anyone have luck with a certain capture card and Windows 7?
    2) Just go with the Canopus and be done with it?

    Thanks for the feedback.

The ATI 600 cards work perfectly in Windows 7.
I wrote about it in detail here: ATI 600 card doesn't work in Windows 7, how to use?

No. That confines you to DV AVI.
The ATI card will let you capture MPEG-2 (NTSC) and lossless AVI in VirtualDub (PAL and NTSC).
