Please help before I lose my hair (and mind). I have any avi file I'm trying to convert to SVCD. It continues to freeze at 9% when encoding in TMPGEnc. I know there's a frame where playback freezes, but Virtual Dub doesn't fix it.
I have the following problems:
a) using virtual dub I follow the guide and the saved .avi file is about 12KB and doesn't even work.
b) DivFix doesn't even find the bad frames.
c) VirtualDubmp3 gives me this message when I try and open the .avi file
"Couldn't locate decompressor for format MP43 (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG4-V3)" and then crashes. So the files won't even load.
Can someone please help because I'm going crazy not being able to put these files to SVCD. I've tried all the guieds and walk throughs I can, and none seem to fix it.
I'm an extreme newbie so be kind![]()

Virtualdub mp3 freeze is telling you that you don't have the proper codec installed. If I interpret the message correctly you need the specific microsoft codec as described in the error message. You can get a program called gspot from the tools section of this website and open your
avi file just to be sure. Then just do a search on google for the particular codec, or ask on this board where to get it. I would tell you if I knew myself. -
Thanks. I tried G Spot, and apparently I have the required codecs installed. The file plays fine on media player (except for the frozen frame), it just won't work in VirtualDubmp3. Could it be that VirtualDubmp3 requires a codec not needed to play the feil in media player?
ALSO, can anyone tell me why the new .avi file created by VirtualDub (as opposed to VirtualDubmp3) is only 12KB and doesn't do anything?
Thanks -
I'm no expert but the codec may be an integral part of media player and thus not accessable to v-dub. Open virualdub and click on video, then select compression. See if you have any mpeg4 fast motion codecs listed.
