after a couple of months of sorting this out this is the best way i have found for divx/xvid to dvdr

(does not work for ac3 movies yet)

tools

vdub mp3freeze
tmpgenc

open the avi in vdub mp3freeze

>video>check video for freezes - leave it to sort out bad frames

if there are any bad frames use guide on here for deleting them. (I think this is the reason why there is an audio sync whe converting to mpg)

save as avi using direct stream copy

load avi into tmpgenc

load dvd template (ntsc if it is 23 or 29.97 frames pal if its 25fps)

let it work its magic...on my p4 it does this in about 1 1/2 hours

tmpgenc again >file>mpeg tools >de multiplex

select the streams and filenames (both video and audio)

rename *.mp2 to *.mpa

load ifoedit

>author dvd into VIDEO_TS folder

enter m2v as video, mpa as audio run that

<<OPTIONAL>>

if you want to use nero or recordnowmaxburn just VIDEO_TS folder

<<the way i do it>>

however nero doesn't burn dvd video to play in standalones correctly and recordnowmax keeps saying my discs are bad so i create an image using ifoedit and the dvd image tools add in(must be installed previously)

burn the *.img in dvd decrypter

viola a decent quality dvd
