I'm converting DIVX (AVI) to MPG file format.
When ever I burn a VCD and play it on my DVD player the quality is very poor. The video is fuzzy and "jumpy". I have tried several different sources for my files and always have an end result of - poor quality…….Yes, I've installed Codecs 4.01 and Kristal Studio Pack, and can play DIVX on my Media Player.
Here are the steps I am doing. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
1) Taking an AVI file (Divx) and ENCODING it to mpg, using TMPGEnc (version 12j) & tried (version 12a). (SEE SETTINGS BELOW)
2) Burning the VCD with NERO 5.5.4.0
3) Playing it in my SONY DVD NS400D (DVD/CD/VIDEO CD)
If anyone can please provide any assistance, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Skooter

"3) Playing it in my SONY DVD NS400D (DVD/CD/VIDEO CD)"
Hey you got the same player as me
I use Easy Cd creator (Vcd Creator) and although the Sony plays all disks I throw at it the Maxell or TDK give the best results.
Did you load a template in TMPGEnc and just convert, I know Nero will re-convert if there are things wrong. But I have always found that making VCD's that are exactly correct play very well.
Video-CD PAL (MPEG-1 352x288 25fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)
Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)
Player works very well, I also have a chip fitted to disable macrovision, skip FCC and multi region -
I also have the same problem when i convert the avi to mpg using tmpg and i burn it to vcd with nero. When I play it on my vcd player it comes out poor quality and it keeps freezing, but it still plays the audio. My vcd play is a DAV309.
