  1. I just got my order and just like I asked for..THESE WHITE TOP "ACCUS" are SONY!!! Not just the one 50 pack spindle either..BUT BOTH SPINDLES! One thing I think is very interesting is that there was a barcode on one of the silver/purple 50 pack's I purchased a month ago or so. The other 50 pack spindle didn't have a barcode and I thought that might be a way these sites know which is SONY and which isn't. Well guess what, I WAS RIGHT BECAUSE on BOTH of these 50 pack spindles I just received, there is a BAR CODE ON BOTH of them, and the BAR CODE NUMBER IS THE EXACT SAME as the first SONY SILVER/PURPLE order! Not to mention I just ran BOTH spindles through ADVDINFO AND THEY SAY "SONY."

Damn I'm good! As I said, I don't play! Oh, and these ACCU'S LOOK SO DAMN SWEET! White top with a silver circle, damn these look good and I don't even care about the DVD looks! lol.....I expect nothing but exceptional burn and play from these bad boys! To say i'm happy as a pig in shit would be an understatement!

  2. I just got the same discs from Meritline.com and there are errors all over the place. Picture freezes around the 1 hour mark and this happens on all 5 of my players. Seems as though you are not as good as you thought!

  3. what is the manufacturer ID of those disks you are referring to? Meritline is NOTORIOUS for taking suckers. They continue to bait and switch people, that is why I haven't purchased disks there. Check the manufacturer ID and let me know if you have EVER burned ACCU disks before from Meritline. Have you burned the silver/purple ones? I didn't manufacturer the disks buddy, so when I said I was good, I meant that I wasn't gonna except a 50/50 batch of Lead Data/ Sony, and I got 100 Sony's. Let us know your results.

Sergeant, I just browed through a few of your posts, and with no disrespect, they all seem like the "clueless" type. You sit there and preach ACCU disks in most of your posts, then ask WHY someone would want to check the manufacturer id of the ACCU's, and "IF" you really do have these white label ACCU's, which I seriously DOUBT because you just got through asking me an hour ago on another post how the white labels were....and now all of a sudden you have them, and have them burned AND TESTED ON 5 different DVD players.

I think you're full of horse shit and i'm gonna prove it when I come back and post real results about these disks. lol... Hopefully I won't have to eat my words, but I think i'm GOOD on this one too. As far as thinking even the silver/purple disks were "flimsy"..yea, they are as FLIMSY as every other disk manufacturer. lol..as far as the WHITE top goes...they are the smoothest disks I've seen yet! I'll report some smooth results to go along with them, hopefully.

lol..your a trip man..you know what though...i'm like that in every day life. I don't take shit from anyone, but I'm a man and can admit when I'm wrong. But when a poster comes on here and falsifies information...that's messed up. I think this forum for the most part is for people to share information to HELP and assist each other in making the right decisions whether it be by purchasing media, or using a program.

Was I wrong saying that that clown does NOT have the WHITE TOP ACCU's I have? No, because unless their name is Alladdin, they don't have shit! They just got through asking me an hour before that B.S post how I knew I was going to get White Top ACCU's and how I could of accomplished that since the picture shows "silver" on the site. Now all of a sudden through osmosis they not ONLY have the WHITE TOP ACCU'S, but have burned and tested them on FIVE different set top players, all within an hour of asking me questions about the same disks....Unreal...now that i've called them out and researched their worthless posts, they know they are full of crap and are probably thinking of some real good excuse to try and prove they do have the disks. I can't wait to hear from them.

I think in all seriousness that post should be removed because they are NOW CLEARLY making shit up.

I have just burned TWO movies, the Patriot, and Dude, Where's my Car, and BOTH OF THEM BURNED FLAWLESSLY, AND PLAY FLAWLESSLY all the way through! These SONY WHITE TOP ACCU's are the shit, and If I could have it do to all over again, I would of gotten these with my very first order! These people that continue to only buy Ritek are doing me a favor, they are keeping the cost of these disks down because demand is low, and I can order these IN STOCK any time I want. Damn this is beautiful. Keep buyin up all those Ritek's across the globe folks..PLEASE!

    Hello defense,

I know you are buying your disks from www.cdrdvdrmedia.com, and you are buying ACCU's. But what is the item number of the SONY white top ACCU disks you order (specifically the 50 pack you mention)? I only see silver.

Reading from your other posts, do you think it is neccessary to specify SONY disks when ordering? It sounds like you had to speak to a technician and get him to do you a 'favor' inorder to make sure you got SONY'S.

    Thanks,
    Tearren
    Quote Quote
  7. Hi Tearren, I got a scanner about a week ago and haven't installed it yet. When I do I will put a picture of these white top ACCU's to show, since the online sites only show the silver top. They really look smooth, and burn and play even smoother! 8) To answer your question though, you are right on both parts of it. The reason I was fortunate enough to get the "WHITE TOP" ACCU's was because cdrdvdrmedia was out of the silver tops temporarily, so they offered me the white tops until they got a big order of silver tops back in.

I had to call a different number and speak to a technician who knew all the specifics about ACCU and Ritek Media, and I made it clear I wanted them to be the same disks I had before. I said IF the White Top are ACCU and manufactured by SONY, then I want 100. He really would not guarantee anything, but I talked him into havin' him hook up my order at the warehouse and get me those SONY's. With almost all orders they seem to send out half a batch of the SONY and another half a batch of Lead Data. Don't get me wrong, the Lead Data ACCU's are great too, but on the bottom of the "LEAD DATA" spindle, the last four or five you need to burn less then 4 GB's or your last few chapters will freeze.

That was ONLY with the Lead Data spindle, and only with the last four or five. I would call cdrdvdrmedia.com and ask for "STEVE" from TECH.. if you REALLY want the White Top ACCU's. I don't know that he'll be able to give you the white tops because they cost more money and not only did I get all SONY, I got them for the SAME PRICE as the silver top ACCU's which was $84, with FREE SHIPPING! Talk about a steal! Anyway, talk to him and see what he can do. At the very least, I think he can hook you up with ALL SONY ACCU's, even if they are the silver top, they are still the shit! Let us know how it works out.

  8. I just got some of the Accu's from CDRDVDMEDIADVD-R with the white labels on one side. 2 spindles of 50. The paperwork/invoice says 102-010-100 but the shrink wrap on the spindles say 102-010-050. Advdinfo E0 says the first 2 at least are Sony.

Personally, I didn't want labels. My last 3 orders didn't have them and I've no problems with them. Never crossed my mind to request no labels.

I'm doing my first back up with these white labeled ones right now. Sopranos season 1 disc 2 with Instant Copy 7. I'll watch the entire dvd and report back.
    Quote Quote
  9. benzima, I've figured out that the "last" three digits of that code just means the total number of disks in the spindle. The reason it says 100 on your receipt is because you ordered a total of 100. I've burned three movies with these disks, two of which were over 4.35 GB's, and almost three hours long. Excellent burn, excellent playback on my standalone. Excellent disks!

  11. Are these ACCU discs 2x or 4x?
Depending on the type of burner you have and what firmware you have, they can be burned at 2x. I burn ALL of my disks at 2x. I'm not into all that PARANOIA B.S where people are afraid to burn at a higher speed for whatever reason. With the recording process being so sensitive as it is, it honestly wouldn't shock me if MORE errors could occur at a slower speed.

Although I wouldn't burn at 4x personally, at least not now. That is just me though, and being that I haven't had a single issue due to burning at 2x and my backups look like my originals..I think i'll be sticking with 2x.

Anyway, what burner do you have? If it is a SONY burner and you have firmware 1.0f or 1.0g, you CAN burn these disks at 2x.

These Sony's are also sold at Rima under the DUPEZ name for $75 a 100 pack.

I ordered 5 100 packs of these, (and 600 Riteks) with in the past month, and all of the DUPEZ's were Sony's.

Although the last 200 were of the printable type. They informed me they were short on the silver tops and sent these at the same price. Not sure of their current stock.

Here's the ADV Info for the DUPEZ

  13. Disturbed, thanks for the info bossman..a couple of quick questions for you....that isn't the same EXACT ID as the ones I've been getting. The ones I have say J...@...P, NOT "B" @ P. Not sure how much of a difference that makes, but it doesn't sound like they are the "SAME" exact disks. However, if I could burn as smoothly with those as with the ones I have now, then I'd like to try them out. I remember from one of your last posts, you don't have the Sony burner, but you have two others burners. Can you confirm the maximum speed you can burn these (DUPEZ) disks at? And last but not least, do they charge for shipping at Rima? If not, i'm in like FLYNN! Let me know.

I ordered 5 100 packs of these, (and 600 Riteks) with in the past month, and all of the DUPEZ's were Sony's.
SHIT....how many burners do you have again man?...lol...if I can count correctly, that's over 1,100 disks. What are you mass producing these bad boys?

I've gotten 3 burners now. A Panasonic LF-D311 (1x DVD-R, 2x DVD-RAM), Pioneer A03 (almost 3 years old and still going strong), and Toshiba SD-5002. It only burns 2x on the Toshiba. I should of picked up the A05, but the Toshiba had a price I just couldn't pass up. I only did 2 tests at 2x, all was fine (4.26 gig), all others were at 1x.

I burn between 750-800 a month. I just like to keep a few extras in case I screw up my budgeting.

The only thing I mass produce are wedding packages. I had a special last month that almost killed me. And I'm getting ready to roll out my graduation flyers at the end of this month.

Don't know how much of a difference that makes. They offer 50 packs at $40 too. It might worth a try. I don't gaurentee they'll be as good as the ones your getting from Meritline, but they work for me. I have a crappy Apex 500w that skips and stutters with Ritek G03's and everything else except Verbatiums, and these "Sony" discs are just fine.

They have a lighter recording surface than the Riteks, almost like Samsung's BeAlls.

  16. Disturbed, how the hell can you burn 700-800 disks a month? That's about 25 a day or so. What is it you are burning? Movies? Shit..that's crazy. Sounds like these Sony are a winner for you. For that price I will have to try it. You didn't mention whether or not Rima is charging for shipping. If they are then the price will probably be equal to or greater then the $84/no tax, no shipping I'm getting right now. Let me know about shipping when you get a chance.

I actually get all the disks from cdrdvdrmedia.com and even though they are owned by meritline, the business is more ethical at cdr. I have heard countless people complain about bait and switch with meritline. Meritline also has the same exact disks, but they are $85 as opposed to $84 for a 100 pack. Not that it's a big difference in $1, but being that meritline DOES charge for shipping..the price is much more.

Hey, your one of the few that can do math . Most say no way in hell is poss. to do 25 -30 a day at 1x. It is if you only get 6 hours sleep, plus having a girlfriend able to do some of the work helps too.

The difference between the two ADVInfo's is the J@P is generic Sony

and the B@P is the same as the branded Sony

Rima doesn't offer free shipping, but it's only $5-$6 for UPS ground. They don't charge a handling fee, just the shipping fee.

It's good to here the Meritline chains haven't done you in yet, but I've been burnt by both Meritline and Supermediastore. Next time I feel gutsy, I'll give cdrdvdrmedia a try. Who knows, maybe they have changed their ways.

    Edit
    --------------------------------------------------------

After going to cdrdvdrmedia, they are MUCH cheaper for the Accu's than what Rima is offering. $107 for 100 DVDs and 100 cases plus free shipping is a great deal!

The 100 pack without cases isn't as good of a deal.

  18. Disturbed, I gotta laugh at the fact that you burn that many disks a day...I mean because that's so unfathomable!.....that is tight work though! lol....Gonna be a competitor to BlockBuster soon....anyway...where did you get that information about J...@...P is "GENERIC" SONY, where as B...@...P is Branded SONY? I don't doubt your info because i've read other accurate posts by you, but I do have a hard time understanding how either of them could be considered "Branded" when SONY doesn't manufacturer either of the two disks. They just have their name etched in them for OEM.

I was told this by two seperate tech support people and the B...@...P I would have to believe would be the same. Please post a link or let me know where you got that information. Either way, as long as they are as great of quality at Rima, as they are from cdr...then I will definitely try them out. As for your experience with Meritline..well you aren't the onlyone. I think the management at cdr is just much more ethical. I mean I was told I would get ALL SONY in this 100 pack order, and NOT 50/50 Lead Data being the other 50.

I was told correctly! My experience has been excellent and should Rima ever be out of what you are looking for...check out cdrdvdrmedia.com...you won't be disappointed. Please let me know about the two different ADVDINFO results when you get a chance. Thanks

The red Sony's are links to the media info links on this site

    Generic Sony https://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=117

    ($ 0.80 J@P)

    Retail Sony https://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=95

    ( $4.00 B@P)
    Quote Quote
  20. thanks for the link. I still don't understand though. I mean the reason "Generic" is used in the media section, is because the top side of the disk has no name. Under the Specific Sony media, the id's are in fact the same, but it still makes no sense. If SONY were manufacturing either of these disks, (your batch and mine) why in the hell would they hide their disks under a name such as ACCU and DUPEZ. It doesn't make any sense.

If SONY manufactures a disk, they would use their name, such as the second link you posted, and sell the disk for 3-5x most other disks. This is the case here. The Sony link was specifically for Sony name brand disks, but I think that is interesting because it brings to light a point which I believe is valid.

I believe that it's obvious Sony doesn't make either of those disks I mentioned, but I do think they have a contract with the company that does to make so many "SONY" named disks, and so many "DUPEZ" or other not well known named disks. The reason for this is probably because they would make a killing selling their disks for the price they are selling them for. Also, they would make a killing be getting so much per disk at the cheap 75 cents a disk, but having so many more sold. I believe that is what the deal with both of these disks are and it would make perfect sense.

With that being said, being that Sony doesn't actually manufacturer either of the disks themselves, they can both be considered Generic Sony. I will do a little more research though, but that seems to make the most sense. I think the bottom line though is we both have found some hidden treasure with these disks. I will check the other ones out at Rima though, just for fun to know I have a second option should cdr be out one of these times.

Let me know what you think about my theory on both types of these unbranded Sony disks.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

I didn't even know Sony had a disc manufacturing plant.

Media is a funny thing though, as most know, good Verbatium is made by Mistuibishi Chemical Company (MCC), Memerox is made by Taiyo Uden, Universal is made by Gigastorage Corp (GSC), Pioneer and Apple sometime use Pioneer Video Corp (PVC), and sometimes Maxell.
There is also CMC (Complete Manufactured Crap), and unPRODisc.

Most of the CDR makers make DVD blanks too. What I find funny is that Ritek CDRs were complete crap. In an old CD burner I have the manual states not to use the Ritek brand media as it is unreliable. So far so good with the DVD blanks, eventhough my LF-D311 rejected the last 50 or so, they did burn fine on the Shiba and A03. All the Sony's are fine in all units. I was affraid that the next few batches of Riteks would be blems due to rush orders and the usual quantity before quality, I'll be watching.

There are only a hand full of disc makers, most company just buy in bulk and slap their name on them.

To be honest, I doubt there is any difference between the "SONY"'s you and I have. Perhaps a date code, or dye change. Who knows? Sounds like we found some gems at the bottom of the barrel though.

Here's the top of the Sony. The White part is injet printable, it feels like a label/matte paper. The inner circle has silver ring, not black.

    Here's the bottom.

    For contrast, here's a Ritek G03
    Quote Quote

The tops of those DISKS are EXACTLY like the ones I have. HOWEVER, the bottom of my disk almost exactly resembles the Ritek bottom you uploaded!

The blueish dye on those Sony's you have is definitely different then the dye I have on these ACCU. So basically, the only difference is that the top of my disks and your disks are EXACTLY the same, with the "silver" ring in the middle. But the dye used for your disks and my disks are different. Pretty interesting, but you did say maybe the only difference was the dye, so it looks like you are right. I still personally find that very interesting because I really wonder which of the two dyes are better. What do you think?

The scanner didn't get the color exactly right.

The difference is that the Riteks are a deep, deep, very dark purple, where as the Sony's are a lighter purple and much more refelctive, almost mirror like.

The color doesn't mean much. It's just the chemicals in the recording dye.

It seems as though the quality could be equal. Given that they have the same ADVInfo (except B@P), the chemical make up is the same. It's this information the burning uses to calibrate the laser for burning.

By dye, I meant a machinist dye/cutting dye, like a template one uses. Each one is only good for so many uses, then it gets changed. Ritek went through one not too long ago. The different B@P could be a plant sig too. I don't know.

I'd say they are the same discs.
    Quote Quote
  24. Dunno if anyone cares, but the difference in the first parts of your media id reflects the "Write Strategy" of the disc, which can also relate to difference in dye type/quality. It's bytes 11-14 of the data (starting at 0); this is the ASCII "B@P", etc, you are referring to. Doesn't necessarily MEAN anything, but it's worthwhile to notes that they have diff Write Strategies, which means the burner is calibrating itself to burn to them in different manners. Like disturbed said, could be a different dye, different formulation, different reflectivity, who knows..

Seriously, if someone DOES know, please pipe up

I found this thread very interesting and learnt a lot.

I recently bought 50 discs from COMPUSA. Here is the info:
    00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 98 0C 13 .B...@....P.....
    76 78 80 00 03 4C 44 30 31 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 VX...LD01.......

Any comments. The first line is very similar to the one posted by Mr. Disturbed! Also, the recording surface is very reflective and much lighter than Memorax or TDK. I have used COMPUSA media in the past without any problems at 1x speed. Will try to burn these at 2x and post results.

I purchased 100 from another site for the Dupez brand thinking it was Sony. However, when I got them, they have the exact same ID as the one you posted. According to someone on anther thread, LD means Accu, not SONY. But so far they seem ok on my Toshiba, Panasonic and Maranz players.
