  1. Can anyone help me?
I installed ADVDinfo so that I could post some details on my success/failures.

The first disc I tried returned correct info, but since then I have only seen the error
ADVDinfo - ASPI Command returned: Sensekey: 02h,ASC 3h, ASQC 00h.

I have tried reinstalling, I've added the latest ASPI drivers and still get the error.
    Thanks

  2. I think you need to have that disk in DVD-Burner to get that info. And it can't be in external enclosure. And it doesn't work with +R/RW. Use Nero's CD Speed tool to get at least some info for + media.

  3. @ donpedro, I've used ADVDInfo on my Verbatim DVD+R's, and it worked perfectly.

  4. defense, are you saying that you were following these instructions

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdmedia?advdinfo=1#advdinfo

and it worked on +R ?

Could you please post result as you can see in instructions ?

  5. Donpedro, I’ve tried a few more times and yes one problem was I was trying to do this with my DVD-ROM – which ADVDinfo defaults to. So trying this with my DVD-Writer (Sony DRU-500A) I can read 00 – Physical Format information and OE Pre recorded Information on lead in for a DVR-R, BUT for a DVD+R only the 00 information will display, when I try OE I then get the error message.

By the way my Computer information is available!

  6. Super ! And that comp. info..... that is just my signature nothing personal.

  7. donpedro: Yes, I did use that method. As a matter of fact, I didn't read that prior because ADVDInfo is a sinch to use. You just put in the DVD and hit a button. And unlike Navillus, I had no problems whatsoever reading my DVD+R with my DVD ROM drive. I have to run out for an hour or so, but when I get back I will put in two random Verbatim DVD+R disks and post the results.

  8. One thing to note is that I just realized there are other options in the drop down box. This info was listed under 00 physical format information. Should I use option 06 Media ID? There are many different options there. When I tried to use Media ID WITH BOTH A VERBATIM DVD+R, and a Verbatim DVD-R, I got some type of ASPI ERROR. It said, ASPI COMMAND RETURNED, SENSE KEY 05h; asc 24h, ASCQ00h. I'm not sure what that is, do you know? I will try to figure it out, but I have the most current ADAPTEC Aspi Drivers. I wonder if I need FORCEASPI for this to work properly. let me know if you get a chance. Thanks

  9. Please defense... Open that link that I posted and read... please

0E-Pre-Recorded Information in Lead-in is what should be selected.

If it gives you error, it means that it does not work with +R.

  10. donpedro: You are right, I should of read that link. I just did and I am still getting ASPI errors. I tried three different DVD-R media. Do you know if it matters if Data is already recorded on the disk or not? All of my DVD-R's are already recorded on and I won't have any blanks until I get my shipment of ACCU's tomorrow morning. I can read the DVD-R and DVD+R with the default physical format information option, but can't read the OE Lead In Data on ANY of my DVD-R's let alone a DVD+R without getting ASPI errors. I have the latest Adaptec drivers installed and never had an ASPI error before. Do you have any ideas?

I get sense errors with alot of the options in there also, but after putting the program into the same directory as my ASPI drivers I can read the manufactuer info fine... which is really the only one that matters to me.

  12. defense, Put disk into DVD-Burner not DVD-ROM and try again.

  13. @Donpedro & Flaystus, thanks for the information. I will try both methods when I get home. @flaystus, one quick question, I have my Aspi drivers on my c: drive directly, not in the programs folder, or another sub-folder. Right when I click on C: I have a folder I titled Adaptec Aspi, are you saying I should just cut the ADVDINFO icon/program, and paste it into the adaptec Aspi folder, and it should work? My ACCU's are out to be delivered via UPS right now as I am writing this, so I will have them later on..I can't wait to try them, and I definitely am going to need ADVDINFO to work on those, so I can tell who the real manufacturer is. Thanks again in advance

This command should work on any DVD burner provided that you have a DVD-R insterted. I'm not sure wether it will work from a standard DVD-ROM drive.

This has been bugging me too. I have two hard drives one with Win 98 and one with Win XP. I use XP most of the time and ADVDInfo won't work on it. It works great on Win98, maybe this is your problem too.

    Guys,
There is an update for ADVDinfo. The program with a new interface can be found here: http://www.nicsoft.com.au/ as DVDinfo. The author has used NIL's original ideas and expanded the interface and usability. Please D/L and try it. He will appreciate the input and ideas generated.

  24. I have WinXP and Win2000 and it works, but I don't remeber the "magic formula" what I said to make it work

I was definitly playing with a lot of different ASPI versions.

I am having a terrible time with ADVDinfo.
I have a 2.4 P4, with XP home and everytime I try to open ADVDinfo it says "unable to create device list".
I downloaded the latest ASPI 4.72 drivers, reboot and I get the same error.

I have tried putting the disc in either my DVD-rom drive and my external Sony DRX-500UL.

I also tried the new DVDinfo but it says I need the ASPI 4.60 drivers, but when I go to download them it says DO NOT load them on winXP...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

I use ADVDinfo with XP Pro without any issues. Perhaps, the difference is I use ASPI 4.60 loaded via Forceaspi.

Try this and see if the errors are still there.

  28. Nero CD Speed (or CD Speed 2000 which is same product) will give some kind of short version of that info.
