  1. If both files where the same: 352 x 240, 23.976 fps, 48000 Hz and same bitrate (let's say 3500)....

What would the difference between MPEG1 and MPEG2? Would the quality of one be better? File size?

  2. MPEG-2 Has a higher copression ration. With MPEG-2 you get more quality for your bitrate.

In that case above, there would be no difference because they're the same except one has a MPEG-2 header and the other has a MPEG-1 header.

Are you sure? The other guy thinks the file would be smaller (higher compression).

  5. It depends....if the files are CBR then there would be little if any differance. If they are VBR then MPEG-2 will look better(personal experience).
Although you can make an 9mbps VBR MPEG-1 file,MPEG-1 is optimized for <1.5mbps CBR.
