Have AIW 32; Can't get digital audio out-- help

My excuses for posting what I pressume is a basic question in the more advanced forum ( since I am only recording and burning VCD, because of money rather than motivation most certainly) .

Cannot get digital audio out to my amplifier.

I am assuming you are referring to an output built into the Video Card itself, since this is the only way that the video card could affect Digital Audio out.I have a similar problem with my ATI 8500DV.The cause of my problem is simple, and affects all ATI cards with built-in SPDIF out. The idiots that wrote the driver for the SPDIF output did not make it possible for anything other than the ATI DVD software player to use the output.I think it is ridiculous not to allow all audio sources to use the SPDIF output built into the card.
