  1. Hi, I'm gonna be using DVD2SVCD's advanced mode for making a backup of Terminator 2. T2 is a seamless branching DVD and I think has four different program chains, all over 2:30. PGC 1 is the "theatrical" version which is want I intend on keeping. The thing is that DVD2SVCD doesn't detect it is a seamless branching film and it just picks out a version from the .IFO file.

I hope it is selecting the 1ST PGC, because I believe that is where the theatrical version is. I can't tell by times because DVD2SVCD doesn't give me an accurate time with the different PGC's.

Anyway, to be sure, can I just rip with DVD DECRYPTOR in stream processing, the .M2V file of the first PGC, and let DVD2SVCD run off of that? More specifically, CAN DVD2SVCD run off of .M2V files, or does it have to have the entire vob set there? Also, can anyone give me advice on the best method to backup seamless branching titles with DVD2SVCD? thanks in advance for any help or info on this.

  2. wow, talk about an inactive Forum (DVD2SVCD) No wonder the name of this site was changed to DVDHELP. Oh well, anyway, scratch the post, I am using other methods to back this movie up.

Why dont you just use DVD Decrypter to rip the version you want using IFO Mode and then run DVD2SVCD off the new IFO and VOB set it rips. Always worked for me when I tried to copy DVD's with different version on it. Hope this helps

  4. Irosodo, that's what I was unsure of. Doesn't Decryptor in IFO mode rip an .IFO file but an .M2V file as opposed to VOBS? Are you sure it creates a VOB set to correspond with the new .IFO? If so, that should work.

Let me know when you get a chance. I could probably just test it, but I have little time with all the other tests of DVD2DVDR i'm trying. If you could let me know when you get a chance. Thanks

P.S What part of Miami are you in? I live in Miami too. Later

  5. Use the IFO mode, then rip the PGC (or angle if multi-angle) you want using DVDDecryptor (don't do stream processing or demuxing). This will give you a set of VOBS for that PGC (or angle) only. Then load the IFO into DVD2SVCD. I use this method all the time and did Episode II this way, and a buddy of mine did Episode I and the Matrix this way also. Seems to work great.

  6. dpcpro, thanks for the info. I haven't used DVD2SVCD in so long I don't remember much about it. Thanks for the info. That is definitely a good way to incorporate DVD2SVCD because DVD2SVCD doesn't recognize multi angle movie titles or seamless branching movie titles, so using DVD DECRYPTOR in IFO mode should work great. Thanks for the heads up.

  7. Update: Being that I already had the entire Vob Set which had all the PGC within it ripped, I decided to go the route of using IFOEdit to just keep PGC 1 and then use DVD2SVCD's advanced options along with CCE to finish the job. It came out pefect. Sometimes IFOedit doesn't recognize seamless branching titles or multiple angles, but it did on this movie, so I caught a break. 8)
