  1. This is clearly not my day....

TMPEnc works fine with every other avi file I have and rencodes fine, so the problem seems to be in the avi file.

This file is S-Mpeg 4 version 3 with AC3. It plays fine in windows media player and windvd. It opens in virtualdub and I can get the ac3 out no problem, but when loading into TMGenc I get "TMGenc.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program".

    Any advice?

Try re-installing TMPGEnc and see if that fixes your problem.

  3. That aint the prob. Since it has gone into error with this file (actually all 3 files: cd1, cd2, and cd1-cd2 comined with virtual dub), I have been able to rencode 2 other files...

If VirtualDub opens it fine, then use VirtualDub and frame server to TMPGEnc. I've found that VDub opens far more AVIs than TMPGEnc, and as there is no disadvantage (only advantages - you can check for bad frames, apply filters...) in running the AVI thru VDub, I never even try to open an AVI in TMPGEnc.

  5. Never done frame serving from virtual dub to TMGenc, but maybe it time to learn .. lol

Searched forum and help files and cant come up to the answer to this one:

What do you do when TMGEnc states unsupported format when using the vbr file as video input?

    Thanx

Extract the audio stream to whatever format it's in. (Usually with VDub)
Convert to wav with a good ??? to wav decoder.
Use this wav as audio input to TMPGEnc

  7. well, i think the problem with the avi is the ac3 audio. So far, have not been able to extract it properly. Have tried vdub, headache, besweet, toolame, etc and in the end I always end up with noice as a wav file. But anyway, that aint the prob.

If I cant load the avi into TMGEnc as video source, it dont matter what I do with the audio !!!!

[btw - if i do a direct stream video with VirDub, file still wont load into TMGenc. If I try full processing mode, VirDub wants to make a 65GiG file!! lmao]

Gettin fed-up and tired of this sh-t - movie not good enough to go through all this hassle. Tryin a recode now with avi2vcd (only cause it the only thing not givin me errors atm) and if that doesnt work, i gonna DELETE the damn avi and forget I ever had the flick .. lolz

Yes, if you can load it in VDub, you can frame serve to TMPGEnc!
What codec does Gspot give you as audio codec?

  10. I had the same problem. I had to install new codecs to fix the problem. You should be able to just get any codecs to fix it.

  11. It a crappy movie anyway (Kung Pow) - not even worth the effort - it was just pissin me off !!!!

avi2vcd recoded it fine, even the ac3 audio. This movie doesnt deserve svcd quality so i happy with vcd. In fact, now that it is all recoded, i might just delete the damn thingy .. lmao

    Thanx 4 the help anyway
