Disco+ bug?

After running the demo I am very very close to purchasing a license fo Disco+... there is just one thing: if the movie is not the first title on the dvd, DiscoPlus does not split it, it always splits the first title, no matter how short or irrelevant.

I tried entering the title number of the dvd in the title window of DiscoPlus both before and after dragging the DVD symbol onto its window, but DiscoPlus still processed the first, useless title on the Disc.

I am a PAL user and experienced this problem on the region 2 discs Bringing Out The Dead and Sleepy Hollow.

Is it a bug, something that will be adressed later, or am I doing something wrong??

These guys work really hard; my advise is buy the license (think of it as a donation, if necessary), and chances are your problem will be worked out anyway...

One big advantage of buying the program is that they then allow direct email feedback and support.

I notice that the new version they just released incorporates one of my suggestions made to them by email (selecting auto-chaptering from the start, so that you can walk away and come back to a completed project with no steps required in the middle)


BTW: I am NTSC, so I can't help you on the substantive problem.

Okay, I might do that, it's a fair point you make. But I would still like to know if somebody/everybody else faces the same problem I described! Or is it, for example, just a PAL thing? DID somebody successfully split a DVD where the movie was NOT the first title??

As Mike said, talk to us, we're listening. You have in fact id'd a bug...and quite an illusive one.

It will be fixed withing the hour, and a new version of the software released.

Check here or our site: VT won't let us post an update this soon, so it will be a couple of days before it shows up there.

Its seems to still be assing out on some dvds, but man, some dvds are *really* poorly authored.

Gonna test it some more then get it out, most likely by 3/12/03 PM GMT -5.

Right now, some...new code we are working on (Project "We'll See") is eating into my time

The update is there! And Disco+ 1.0.2 managed to split the difficult dvds I mentioned in my first post (where the movie is not the first title) perfectly! Great work, Kai!

Also it works with disc images now! Create a folder in DVD Backup, drag into Toast, create image, mount image, drag into D+. My issues (Quicksilver dual running Jag 10.2) are mainly to do with non critical things like incorrect time displays, loss of FF control, inconsistant chaptering and missing VOB's in fast mode. Those of you still on the fence I think it's time to send Kia and co their $40 fee so they can continue to tweak this thing, This is a great time saver as you don't have to deal with m2v, ac3 files and the audio synch issues that arise when you do so.
