  1. Hello, I have a Bin file of some video set up for NTSC viewing but I wish to convert it to PAL. I have mounted the image with Daemon tools and tried to re-encode with TMPG but TMPG just hangs and does not respond when i try to load the Mpeg. I copied the MPEG from the mounted image to my desktop and tried to re-encode from there but same results. I then noticed the file was read only so I altered it to archive but it then reverts back to read only as soon I check its properties again. No matter how many times I change it from read only to archive it resets itself straight away!
Hope someone can help! : )

Before you can change file properties, you have to untick read-only.The you can vheck archive. But why in the first place do you want this?Tmpgenc does't need a writable source file, as it doesn't change it.Just load the file into mpeg-tools (of tmpgenc) and demux video and audio.then re-compress the mpg part, note the new run length and apply a time stretch to your audio with the new length. With luck, you have now a working (i.e in-sync) mpeg after re-muxing.

  3. Thankyou for your response but could you please explain the process in more detail for me. I do not have much experience at encoding, etc.
I have de-multiplexed the source via the simple demultiplex feature of TMPGEnc and I now have a .m2v file and a .mp2 file. What do I need to do next? I'm not sure whether to encode just the .m2v file into PAL SVCD format and then add the sound later or what!
Your help is much appreciated. Ty : )

I used to change from NTSC to PAL and had loads of problems, I think TMPEnc adds extra frames to pad out to 25 fps and it seemed to cause jitter. Provided your TV and DVD player supports NTSC and most modern equipment should, just burn your dvd as NTSC.

What you can do (what worked for me) is:
load the video part into ULEAD MS and create a PAL format mpeg.
Use CoolEdit to adjust the length of the audio file.

  6. Thankyou for your replies.... I've now converted the file into PAL format and shall be playing with the settings within TMPGe to try and increase the size of the picture from a letterbox within a letterbox to something more viewable!
    Cheers : )
