  1. I downloaded some trailers in the Quicktime Format (mov) - I have v.6 (the free version) and the videos run fine. But, quicktime being quicktime, I can't run the video's in true full-screen. However, when I convert the movies to AVI format to watch in Windows Media Player in proper full-screen it won't convert the audio - I need a codec, apparantly. I just don't know which one I need - any ideas?

I'm using RAD video tools (Bink and Smacker), TMPGEnc and VirtualDub but none of these will convert the QT movie into an AVI with sound. The picture is fine, but there is never any audio

    Any help would be appreciated.

The quicktime player should at least be able to tell you what codec it's using.

Load the MOV file into QT6 and click on the 'Window' -> 'Show Movie Info',
(make sure you click on the 'More info' option in the pop-up box).

The 'Format:' details will show the video & audio formats.

You may need the pro (read: $$$) version.

    (maybe not)

Getting .mov audio to convert is a very common problem. The easiest solution I have found is to get Quicktime Pro and use the export feature to convert it to .avi. So far, this is the only way I've been able to successfully convert .mov files with the sound intact.
