I just noticed that MPEG audio is not required to be supported by NTSC DVD players. It works on my Pioneer and Toshiba. How likely is it not be supported in a DVD player that works with DVD-R's? This is for an original content DVD that I hope to sell so compatibility is a factor.

My own experience is that so far, every DVD player that could actually recognize and play the DVD-R's I put in them, recognized and played the MPEG audio stream as well. This has been true not just on the DVD players I own, but also on a number of friends' players as well, and on at least two dozen different models I tested out at the local Fry's Electronics the last time I went player-shopping. (I always take a burned VCD, SVCD, DVD-R, and DVD-RW with me to test player compatibility.)
