Just got this in my mail:
EditStudio 4 Annoucement
========================

Today we have announced version 4 of our award-winning video editing
package. EditStudio 4 builds on the power of previous versions and
brings new ease of use, along with features that are only usually
associated with professional-level programs.

Recognising that video editing can be a complex task for newcomers and
that there can be a steep learning curve when upgrading editors,
EditStudio 4 is much easier to pick up and use than earlier versions. Pure
Motion has ensured that common operations such as adding media files,
effects and transitions are only ever just a single click away. Combine
this with the context sensitive help pane which displays relevant
information based on the task being performed, accessing EditStudio's
power has never been simpler. Existing power-users haven't been forgotten
either. Keyboard shortcuts are now much more widely used and more editing
tools have been added to the timeline such as close gap and the
rate-stretch tool for accurately time scaling items.

Fundamental to the new power in EditStudio 4 is keyframing. Keyframes
allow item properties to be controlled over time; an example would be to
control the blurring of a car number plate as it moved across the frame.
Also supporting keyframing is EditStudio 4's placement feature, enabling
video or bitmap items to be placed within the main video frame. Using both
keyframing and placement, still images can be panned and zoomed over while
crucially retaining the high-resolution of the original image to avoid
pixellated results. As with all areas of EditStudio, the user is given
complete control over keyframing; EditStudio's keyframes support linear,
step and spline interpolation as well as control over ease-in, ease-out
and acceleration.

Based firmly on the belief that features should be practical and not just
for show, EditStudio's already great range of "no-nonsense" effects has
been greatly increased. Significant emphasis has been placed on text-based
effects making EditStudio 4 an extremely powerful and flexible titler. The
main titles effect has been expanded by adding keyframe motion, arbitrary
rotation, scaling, gradient and bitmap fills, separate control over
interior fill and outline, flexible control over shadow and glow as well
as the easy addition of a background colour, gradient or image. Many other
text effects have been added for stunning text fly-ins, reveals and
special effects. Additionally, non-text based effects have been created to
tackle specific tasks such as removing logos and displaying an animated
route over a map.

EditStudio's video preview has been overhauled so that tasks such as
changing the placement of an item or editing the position of an effect are
now performed interactively in the preview. Creating a picture-in-picture
is now as simple as dragging the placement of a video item to the desired
location in the frame and allowing the layer underneath to show through.
Text items can be resized, moved and rotated interactively. For accurate
placement, EditStudio allows the user to enter coordinates of items to
sub-pixel accuracy. Finally, the DV Monitor feature can be used to display
the project on an external camcorder or other connected FireWire device
without the need to pre-render the project.

For the first time in EditStudio's history, all this power will be
available to third-party plugin developers via the freely available SDK.
Developers will be able to easily create plugins which seamlessly
integrate with EditStudio and use its powerful keyframes and interactive
preview objects. As well as the EditStudio plugin SDK, Pure Motion's
powerful new graphics and controls libraries will also be available to
developers to allow the easy creation of stunning new effects.

Pricing And Availability
------------------------

EditStudio 4 is expected for release in the middle of 2003. Final pricing
has yet to be announced, however Pure Motion will continue to offer great
