I have My Editstudio 6. I am doing a project and when I add transitions between the pictures there is a letter like A or B shown during the transition time. I don't want this Letter flashing up during the transition period. How do I get rid of it?

Also, I placed an ending Text after my video/picture movie and the background I picked is blue and the text is white, however when I play the video it is a checkered white background NOT the my chosen blue background. Under the edit text screen, no matter what background I choose (black, white, blue, etc.) it always shows up as this checkered white background when I play the movie. Anyone know why??

OK I fixed the Text problem with the white checkerd background. Under the frames properties I clicked FULL FRAME instead of None. That took care of that problem. Now, I need to get rid of the letter A or B that shows up on the transitions.

Have you selected the layers that you want to transition in the "From Layer" and "To layer" properties for the transition? If so, perhaps you have a gap where no media is present on the layers below the transition. You might find it helpful to read the section in the manual on transitions.

Layer to Layer? Yea I read it but do not really get it. All I want is a fancy transition between pictures. That is it. No Letters or anything just transitions

Layers are the heart of EditStudio. You have to take time to understand them.

Your transition is on one layer.

Your pictures are both on other layers (if they aren't then they don't overlap and can't "transition")

Look to the far right and see what the names are on the layers

Click on the transition to get its attention.

In the bottom right there is an options window. Select the layers names of the two pictures (they default to "Layer A" and "Layer B" if it can't guess what you want) Once you pick the right names then the A and B that you see in the preview will go away.

Ok I get the layers now. On the right hand side I see that each item has a layer, one for video, one for audio, one for text, one for transitions, etc. All my pictures are on 1 layer (Layer 3 video A).

So on the layer above it (Layer 2 Transitions), I placed a transition (under properties on the right hand side, the type is diamond, transition is centre, direction is forward, from layer 3 video A, to layer 3 video A) There is also, feather, number of passes and tile. I have no idea what those do. Anyway, when I put the From layer and To layer to be from 1 picture to another on the from the same video line, when I play it I don't see anymore Letters (A or B) BUT it looks as if there is NO more transition when I play the video. It just goes from 1 picture to another.
What I want is a nice fancy transition WITHOUT the Letters A or B.

OK it looks as if I need to place 1 picture on 1 layer (say layer A) and the next picture on another layer (say layer B) and then overlap them and place the transition on another layer, kinda on the same timeline. That is so different than Windows movie maker where you place the transitions in-between the 2 pictures on the same timeline. Am I right here or is there a simpler way to do it?

That's it exactly, for the transition to work you have to have the items you want to transition on different layers and overlapping. It is very different to WMM, there is no Storyboard layout, only Timeline. The key to using Editstudio is to look at it as if you are looking down from the top layer (say like looking at rock strata), any item on lower layers is obscured by items on the layers above. Once you get the concept, it becomes very easy.

  10. Hello Everyone,

My problem is when I put my video to Editstudio, it's is collapsed, I attached a picture.
But just 2 videos have this problem, the others are good. I don't know the difference among videos.
I thought this is codec problem, but now I don't think so, I converted every video with dv codec.

    What do you think?

not a good first post. you dug up a 4 year old dead thread to ask a new unrelated question. next time make your own new thread.

looks like a bad video. too little info to help anymore than that.

I hoped that someone find my post
    Otherwise, I fixed it.
I don't understand how. But when I converted my video, I don't let it finish, I stopped, and than the video was nice in Editstudio
    I don't know exactly why.
