    Hi,
I just purchased EditStudio pro, I love the feature & functionality, but it takes way too long to convert movies into mpeg-2. So I tried the same movie on Nero vision, that hardly took any time at all.

Just for testing purposes, I used wmv on both programs, a 2 minute clip takes 2 minutes or less with Nero, while studio pro takes 20 minutes ?? Just a straight convert. I uninstall, reinstall the program same thing.

Is this particular program, just slow ?? Is there a compatibility issue with wmv ?? Also vob files will not load properly, if they do they can take 1-2 hours to convert a 5 minute vob.

I built a new system, all other video editors perform well, increased speeds etc.... But EditStudio is still the same ?? Is there any way I can increase the speed it converts ??

My other editors are limited as to what they can perform, reason I prefer EditStudio, but it is super slow. Is there a codec I need to install ? Any help appreciated.

Different encoders take different paths to the same outcome. Some get there quicker, some take their time. Not all the faster encoders produce quality equal to the slower encoders - in fact, very few do. However, no everyone can tell the difference either (otherwise WinAVI would never be used).

The behaviour you are describing sounds more like an issue with reading and decompressing the source.

Does it work more quickly with DV source material than mpeg based compressed source (WMV is mpeg 4 based) ?

Heavily compressed formats such as wmv, Xvid, Divx and mpeg 2 were never designed for editing. They were designed purely for end playback, and are optimised for this. Most editors struggle to deal with them correctly unless they have been written specifically for it (e.g. Windows Movie Maker for WMV, Womble for Mpeg-2).

In short - your choice of source may well be your issue, leaving you with the options of changing your editor, or converting your source to something more edit friendly, like DV, before importing it into EditStudio.
