  1. Just bought a Cendyne DVR-105. Can someone else please confirm they cannot burn Princo 1x media with the dvr-105? The disk ID for this media is simply "PRINCO". It's just not branded 1x princo media with a white colored top face. I have burned 100's of these with my DVR-104 with no problems.. I thought there was something wrong with my DVR-105 because everytime I tried to burn back an ISO image with DVD Decrypter the drive would only get to about 20-30% and then hang.. If I took out the partly burned disc and looked at the underside it doens't look burned properly.. It has no hard edge to where it was burned like a normal good burn would.. It's just kinda softly changed colors to where it tried to burn.. I wasted 2 discs with the same problem.. I then put in a Princo DVD-RW to try and burn it so as to not waste anymore dvd-r's and it burned the whole thing fine and it worked fine! So I knew the burner must work... So I tried another Princo 1x and same problem.. Locked up at around 20%! So by this time I'm getting pretty pissed! So I figure I'll try some of the Ritek G03 media on it..

What do you know works perfect.. Burned 5 discs at 1x on the Ritek media and all works perfectly!

Anyone else have this same problem? My 105 has the 1.0 firmware in it.

    Replies are greatly appreciated!

  2. I got same drive same firmware. I also have a fresh rima.com spindle of white princo. I have winxp sp1, I use nero 5.5.9.17 and I also have aspi 4.6. My dvr-105 is master secondary ide ultra-dma2 with pioneer dvd-rom 16x as slave and forced to ultra-dma2 but normally it defaults to ultradma4. Now I burn full discs of 4.3gb from dvd2one no problems and they play perfectly in my Toshiba set top dvd player 2800.

Advinfo tool gives me the standard Princo lead-in info on this media:

    00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 98 0C 13 .B...@....P.....
    76 78 80 00 03 50 52 49 4E 43 4F 00 04 00 00 00 VX...PRINCO.....
    00 00 00 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 ................

Serial numbers on the media itself is written on top of the media on the white side of inner ring. H052891160612

bought and shipped Feb 7th for $59 100 disk spindle. Price went up $10 since then. Very satisfied and they work just as good as the 2 examples I got in my sample pack which aided me in my decision to go for the least expensive media.

Disc quality can vary from batch to batch maybe more so with Princo. Maybe I'm lucky but until I get burned from buying Princo, I will continue to buy this until ritek come down in price or if 2x media is only $10 - 15 more per 100 spindle or if 4x media is $100 per 100 disk spindle.

Until all that happens Princo is my new Friend.
