  1. Quick question: in virtualdub..when i load a script using decomb.dll..unless i use the decomb legacy dll..i get an error along the lines of "decomb.dll is not a valid for avisynth v1.0)...

and btw im using v2.5..so its weird that its giving me a v1 error.. (or is it cuz 2.5 is merely a beta..or am i totally off??)

2.5 is a beta. Try using the 2.0 version. Also, make sure you have the latest version of your decomb.dll

your trying to use the decomb version for avisynth 2.5... with avisynth 1.0.(at least according to the error message vdub gave you). For a solution, uninstall the avisynth you have, and reinstall avisynth 2.5.... when you goto dl the newest one, also dl the plugins package that is available.. that way, you are sure to get the plugins (including the newest decomb) that will work with avisynth 2.5.

2.0 and 2.5 are both based on the original AVISynth V1. The error is basically just legacy garbage. The DLL is probably not compatible with the 2.5 version though. Just use the 2.0 version.
