weird chapter thing on my authored SVCDs

Something strange when I play back an SVCD that I've authored ( created chapters) using VCDEASY.

Regardless of where in the movie I am, the first time I use the PREV or NEXT buttons it takes me to Chapter 2. After this it works correctly. Just the first time is always chapter 2.
This is on my standalone Philips 718
Any ideas?

I tried so many softwares to do chapter points on SVCD but I realized... (too much late) that this may be my DVD player that doesn't support it very well ... So I gave up ...!

After the first press of either the PREV or NEXT keys on the remote the chapters work fine.
I just use a chapter button when I load the disc so I don't have to stuff around later on through the movie if I want to skip or repeat a chapter.

I played around with vcdxbuild to create svcds with menus and chapters about a year or so ago.

ISTR that with (S)VCD chapters run sequentially and it doesn't matter where you are in the movie (i.e. if you start with chapter 1 and play through half the movie, you will go to chapter 2 when you hit NEXT, even if it is before the current place in the movie).

Can you post the xml that you are using to generate the bin/cue files?

Chapters with VCD/SVCD aren't like DVD chapters. They're entrypoints, if you're on entrypoint (chapter) 1 and you let it play all the way to the end you're still on entrypoint 1. So "next" would take you to entrypoint 2 regardless of how far you've gone from entrypoint 1.

I think I've heard that players are supposed to do the right thing with prev/next, at least with SVCD. But none of them actually do.

If I'm watching the movie and I'm in "Chapter 5"(entrypoint 5) and I push NEXT I get taken to entrypoint 2 , from this point on the NEXT and PREV buttons work exactly like a DVD movie, no matter where in the movie I am.
For the above example my only thought for a reason is,
Because I want to get back to where I was watching, I would keep pressing NEXT to get back to Chapter 5, the next press would take me to Chap 6 because I have actually gone thru the first 5 entrypoints to get back to where I was watching.
sorry if too confusing.

Next time I will just let it continue playing from Chap 2 after the first press and then when it gets thru the movie press NEXT a 2nd time and see what happens. It may take me to Entrypoint 3.

I will try and post the XML from my latest movie.
I just let VCDEASY do whatever is the default.
