    hello,

i would like to ask why is it that everytime i convert a certain video (VHS,Camcorder), when i burn it the pixel are not good enough!!! Is there a way to make the converted video almost the same as the source. I mean the pixel should be ok.

    here's my rig....Athlon XP1500+, 256MB DDR PC266, GF4 MX440 64MB DDR, Leadtek Winfast TV2000.

i'm using the format VCD NTSC of the Leadtek Winfast TV2000...

    thanks....

I don't know an solution to this myself. But I'm also interested in knowing an answer to this. I have an simular rig and would like to know how to get close if not the exact same picture quality as the video source material. I record most telivision shows I want to save in MPEG 1 format. Can any one else reply if just simpily its MPEG doing the pixelation when recording the MPEG to VCD? I'd like to know what versions of software does one need to remove the pixelation no matter the compression of the orgianl source?

Pixelation is a product of the MPEG compression, so the two are inseparable. More compression(=lower bitrate)=lower video quality.
Most would say that standard VCD settings is equal to a slightly worn VHS tape, depending on source material.
Camcorder footage often includes shaky movements, which MPEG1 at VCD settings simply can't handle - there's too much change between each frame for the bitrate.
Either raise the bitrate (XVCD) or go for highish bitrate MPEG2 at CVD or SVCD resolutions.
