Well I got a Digital Video Camera recently, which has DV output.

My computer currently as the All-In-Wonder RADEON 32Mb DDR Tv card. I do not have a firewire card in my computer.

To transfer video from my camera to my computer, what will give me the best quality?

S-Video Out from camera and into AIW S-Video

    OR

Purchase firewire card and connect DV out to this card?

    TIA

You should use firewire, as with DV it is a file transfer, the encoding/compression is done in the camera. If you transfer using firewire there is no quality loss at all, same if you send back to the camera. The only re-encoding takes place when you edit in a NLE, and the program encodes the transitions/titles etc.

As long as your PC specs are up to it, and you have enough hard drive space (approx. 13Gb an hour, plus whatever you want to do as far as editing/encoding to mpeg etc.), you should be OK, and will have the best possible quality to start with.

    OK Thanks

I will buy a firewire card.

Does this firewire also do the audio or is it strictly a video transfer?

The video and audio will be transferred, using firewire.
