  1. I have an avi that wont delete. When I try to it it says it is being used by another program and wont delete it , even after restarting my computer. I've tried all of the registry hacks but nothing seem to make a difference. By the way I am using win XP Home.

  4. Check this post out if you are running XP. It has helped me as it appears XP always wants to read the whole avi. I am also going to try it out on Win 2000 when I get home.

I have this problem at times (yes, I am running Windows XP.) On my system dragging the file to the recycle bin does work, when other ways fail. I don't mean to insult you, but have you tried dragging the file to the recycle bin?

  7. I tried that as well but the only thing that worked was the registry edit.

I don't know if this is related but I have a .RAR file that won't delete as well. Inside are DVD subtitles and they can't be extracted either. And no matter what I do, I can't delete the .RAR file! I run Windows 2000 tho.
