    Quote Quote
  2. this MAY work, depending on ur card (this is how I sorted my problem out)...(1) I had 2 enable the card settings so it looked 4 TWO display devices...(2) connect ur PC 2 the Video In on the AUX channel of the VCR...(3) Boot the PC and it SHOULD b fine...U may have 2 play around with the card setting more...if this doesn't work...unplug the monitor and reboot ( have ur PC so U can c the screen )...I hope this will help...

Your card is set on TV channels (RF) as the source, change the source to composite or video input in its settings.

Thanks Ge'HennA. KingJohn, I did change the settings to composite, but thanks anyway.

Hang on, if the 3 phono sockets on my VCR is used for camcorders, does that mean you can't connect it to the TV card? As it's IN and it needs to be OUT, doesn't it. Will I need to use one of the scart sockets instead?

I assume your using Vid > out to your card

The Scart socket can be used, if your quick, you can visit poundland and pick up a scart to video lead for £1

I did try a scart to phono lead, but the scart is IN, not OUT, so if i get one where the scart is OUT, should it work? But how do you know whether it's an IN or OUT? I'd have to get a phono to phono lead and get one of those scart adapters that you can change to IN or OUT to put on one end.

The Scart will have vid in and Vid out, and will have audio in and audio out. It comes with 4 phono's

I don't undrstand. What do you mean it will have video and audio in and out? Why do I need one with 4 phonos? Do you mean the scart leads with 4 phonos are for IN and OUT? So I need to get a lead with 4 phonos instead of 2 or 3?

The lead is normally called a Video copying lead, they are a universal lead with a scart plug on one end and 4 phono's on the other. This does not mean you have to use all 4. The plugs will be labelled

    Vidio In
    Audio In
    Video Out
    Audio Out

So you only use the plugs you want.

They were first made to connect 2 VCR's together one with the new scart socket and one with the old phono sockets.

Ok, thanks. Can I ask a question about connecting 2 VCRs? I usually connect with a scart to scart, but is it possible to use a scart to phono lead? I tried using a 3 phono to 3 phono lead with a scart adapter on one end, which says "Input", but it doesn't work. The VCR I'm playing on has the phono end and the VCR I'm recording on has the scart end.

No, i'm not mixing the leads up and I'm selecting the right source. I'm guessing that the phono sockets are for input, so I would have to record on that VCR, but that's not what I want to do.

Ok, this thread started with you trying to get video into your TV card, so Video out of the scart lead via a phno which is marked vid out.

If the VCR has 4 phono sockets then it has both in and out, if it only has 3, they are normally left and right audio and video in, some automatically switch and have vid in/out on one socket, but not many like that.

Ok, thanks. Obviously mine is just vid in, then. So if I'm using a scart to phono lead, I need to make sure the scart end is out and the phono end is in, or in and out, like this one:

Will I still get better quality captures using a scart to phono lead when capturing from videos aswell as just from the TV? It doesn't make a difference, does it?
