  1. hi

I've backed up my copy of the fellowship of the Ring extended edition
    (Region 2 PAL)
to VCD and there is a bizzare play back issue.

the DVD was ripped with DVD DeCrypter
Framserved from AVISynth the the Panasonic Mpeg 1 encoder v 2.30.
Aspect ratio was set to 16:9
Sound was encoded seperately with BSeweet.

The encoder encodes the video no problem.
Then the sound was multiplexed with the video using TMPEGEnc.
At this point all is well.
Playback of the muxed file on the PC is great with no sync issues or
    glitches.

The file was then burned with nero as a compliant PAL VCD.
    No reported errors from Nero.

Then the acid test play back on my Alba 103 standalone.....
Not good...The picture is shifted to the left half of the screen and flickers
    like crazy.Audio playback is fine.
So try the same freshly burnt disc in my Bush 2004....plays fine, although
the picture is shifted to the left ever so slightly.

So any ideas on what's causing the severe playback probs on the Alba?

I have backed up many DVD's using the above method which play
perfectly on the Alba and this is the first one that has given me this
    problem.

    Any help would be good!
    Regards
    Waylander

  2. could be the the settings you used? try encoding through tmpgenc, there you can preview what the output video will look like.
